Job Profile: SQL/ETL Intern

About the role:
The SQL/ETL Intern will be trained on troubleshooting and ensuring the successful completion of ETL jobs executing within Health Catalyst’s Data Operating System (DOS) after US business hours. This intern will be trained to ensure the timeliness and integrity of the data loading into clients’ data warehouses. Upon successful completion of training, the intern will be deployed in an On-Call rotation that resolves ETL failures and tries to root cause ETL issues and resolve the issues from occurring in the future.
Duties & Responsibilities after successful completion of internship
- Monitor daily loads executing in our client’s data warehouses
- Become familiar and expert with Health Catalyst’s Data Operating System and how to use the tools to set up queries and schedule and execute Data Pipeline jobs
- Identify Azure/SQL Server performance issues and identify ways to improve them
- Communicate regularly with fellow Health Catalyst team members in both Operations and Engineering
- Communicate with and update clients about critical ETL issues
- Participate in an On-Call rotation and will be offering support resolving ETL failures and offer support around long-running ETL jobs
- Respond to, update, and resolve support tickets for ETL failures
- Resolve ETL failures using Health Catalyst and client-provided documentation
Education & Relevant Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (graduated in 2022/2023)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal English skills
- Ability to learn new tools quickly
Bonus Points:
- Good Knowledge of writing and debugging SQL queries
- Understanding of the ETL process (Extract, Transform, Load)
- Knowledge in database monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Understanding of Jira Service Management
